Hatami has had a long and distinguished career as one of the true legends in photojournalism. He took the earliest color images of The Beatles backstage at the Cavern Club. He was the photographer of Coco Chanel’s fashion creations from 1962-1969. He was Sharon Tate’s close friend and favorite photographer. And he was on the plane with the Ayatollah Khomeini on February 1, 1979 during his historic flight from France to Iran, where Hatami took dramatic images of the street fighting in the ensuing days, documenting the Iranian Revolution. Needless to say, it was a pleasure to collaborate on this project.

I wore many hats at the San Francisco Art Exchange. For the web site I was responsible for managing all content, from image production to writing copy to curating the collections in each store. I also directed the email marketing program. Celebrated as the gallery of the popular image, our focus was on the fine art of music, iconic figures from Hollywood, political leaders, and agents of social change.

This is the relaunched site for my book, Things Kept Burning, updated in May 2011. The previous version was designed by my friend Matt over at Adaugeo, and was clean, simple, minimal and, for more than 4 and 1/2 years, really cool. I wanted an update to a.) freshen thing up a bit b.)  incorporate more outtakes from the cover shoot c.) demonstrate my expanded web proficiency.
